What paint protection film does
Paint protection film is a clear, durable layer applied to the surfaces of your vehicle that take the most abuse. When a stone hits, the film takes the impact instead of the paint. It is clear, so your vehicle looks the way it did when you bought it.
The front end is the usual priority: the front bumper, the hood, the fenders and the mirrors face the road first and collect nearly every chip. Many clients start there and add more coverage later. You may also hear paint protection film called 3M or a clear bra. It is the same thing: PPF is just the newer name.
Why Airdrie drivers choose PPF
Highway 2 between Airdrie and Calgary, and the gravelled winter roads around it, put a steady spray of stones and traction gravel on the front of every vehicle. A single chip is small, but it exposes the layers under the clear coat, and over winters it can spread and lead to rust. Repainting a hood or bumper costs far more than protecting it did.
Choosing your coverage
Our PPF options scale with coverage: PPF Starter (from $449) is the entry-level option for the highest-impact areas. PPF Premium (from $995 for cars, $1,249 for SUVs, vans and trucks) is our front-end coverage and our most popular. Full Front Coverage (from $1,599) is our most complete option, suited to luxury vehicles and anyone who wants maximum coverage.
What each level covers
- PPF Starter: the first 24 inches of the hood, the front of both fenders, both mirrors and the door handle cups. About 4 hours.
- PPF Premium: everything in Starter, plus the full front bumper, both headlights, the fog lights, the A-pillars and the roof line above the windshield. The same coverage for cars, SUVs, vans and trucks, and the price depends on the vehicle. About 4 to 6 hours.
- Full Front Coverage: everything in Premium, with the full hood and the full fenders on both sides instead of the partial coverage. About 7 to 8 hours.
What PPF does not do
PPF will not make a vehicle immune to damage. A hard enough impact can still mark the film, and it does not replace ceramic coating, which is about gloss and easier cleaning. Many clients use both: film where the stones hit, ceramic on the paint. Read PPF vs ceramic coating to see how they compare.
