Paint polishing in Airdrie

Swirl marks and light scratches make good paint look tired. Polishing brings back depth, gloss and colour.

Paint polishing in Airdrie at O Detail starts at $349 for Stage 1. Stage 2 starts at $599 and Stage 3 with a 5-year ceramic coating starts at $1,497 (car prices; SUVs and trucks are slightly more). Most vehicles only need Stage 1 or Stage 2, and we only recommend Stage 3 for heavily oxidized paint. Stage 1 and Stage 2 polishes (without ceramic) include our House Wax Sealant, a $179 value.

What paint polishing does

Over time, washing, dust and everyday wear leave fine swirl marks in the clear coat. They are most visible in direct sun, where they look like cobwebs in the paint. Machine polishing carefully levels the clear coat so light reflects evenly again, and the paint looks deeper, glossier and cleaner.

Polishing is not a coating. It removes a very thin amount of clear coat to correct defects, then the paint is protected afterward with a sealant or ceramic coating so the shine lasts.

GST extra. With ceramic, Stage 2 is $200 more than Stage 1. Stage 3 is the deepest correction and the longest job, so it is priced higher.

Which stage do you need?

Most vehicles only need Stage 1 or Stage 2: Stage 1 for light swirls and dull paint, Stage 2 for heavier swirls and light scratches. We only recommend Stage 3 when the paint is heavily oxidized. We would rather tell you honestly which stage your paint needs than sell you one it does not.

Honest expectations

Results depend on the condition of your paint. Light swirls and marks usually improve dramatically. Scratches deep enough to catch a fingernail cannot be fully removed by polishing, only reduced, and we say so before we start. If we think a lower stage will give you the result you want, we will tell you that too.

Polish plus protection

A polish is the best moment to protect the paint. Our Stage 1 + ceramic bundle starts at $797 for a car, and Stage 2 with ceramic is $997 (car), $200 more for the extra cutting and polishing. Stage 3 is the deepest correction and the longest job, for heavily oxidized paint, so it costs more. Read about ceramic coating and what paint correction actually involves.

Booking

Polish needs to be arranged during your quote, not added at drop-off, because it is scheduled separately. Pick your stage in the quote builder, then choose a day (next day at the earliest) and a drop-off time of 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM. After-hours drop-off is available too: drop your vehicle off after we close and pick it up the next day by noon. We confirm timing with you.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does paint polishing cost in Airdrie?

At O Detail, Stage 1 polish starts at $349 for a car, Stage 2 from $599 and Stage 3 (with a 5-year ceramic coating) from $1,497. SUVs and trucks cost slightly more, and the online quote builder shows the exact price for your vehicle.

What is the difference between Stage 1, 2 and 3?

Stage 1 is a single-stage polish for light swirl marks and a big boost in gloss. Stage 2 is a deeper correction for heavier swirls and light scratches. Stage 3 is the deepest correction and includes a 5-year ceramic coating. Most vehicles only need Stage 1 or Stage 2. We only recommend Stage 3 when the paint is heavily oxidized.

Will polishing remove every scratch?

Not always. It removes light marks and swirls very well. Scratches deep enough to catch a fingernail can only be reduced, and we tell you that before we start.

What is the House Wax Sealant?

Our Stage 1 and Stage 2 polishes (without ceramic) include our House Wax Sealant at no extra charge, a $179 value on its own. It protects the freshly polished paint. It is not included with the ceramic packages.

Should I polish before ceramic coating or PPF?

Usually yes. Both bond best to smooth, clean paint, so polishing first gets the best result. Ceramic coating is only applied after a polish.
