What scratches your paint
Over the life of a vehicle, everyday life leaves swirls and tiny scratches in the paint. Common causes:
- The brushes at self-serve car washes. They hold sediment and grit that scratches paint.
- Rough cloths, especially ones with tags.
- Wiping a dusty car dry. That just drags the dust across the paint.
Ceramic coating vs wax
A ceramic coating is the stronger product. It lasts longer and keeps the shine longer. Wax costs less and gives a deep, wet look, and it usually lasts about 6 to 12 months.
See the details and prices on our ceramic coating page.
Looking after it
How long either one lasts depends on how you look after it: how often you wash it, what towels you dry it with, and how much weather it sees. We get all four seasons here, with harsh winters, hot summers and rain. We will get your paint where it needs to be, but keeping it that way is up to you. Our aftercare guide covers the first 30 days.
Who does not like a shiny car?
Every time we finish a polish, we cannot help looking back at it. You will want to keep it that way.
