Why the first month matters
A ceramic coating bonds to paint and then fully cures over days to weeks. During that time it is more vulnerable to water spots, contamination and harsh products. Treating the first 30 days carefully helps the coating reach full hardness.
General guidance
- Keep it dry for the period you are told after the application. Park indoors if you can.
- Wash by hand with a pH-neutral soap and clean microfibre towels once it is safe to wash.
- Avoid automatic brush washes. They can scratch and may be harsh on a coating.
- Skip waxes and sealants unless told otherwise, so the coating can do its job.
- Remove bird droppings, bugs and sap quickly.
Long-term care
A coated vehicle is easier to clean but not self-cleaning. Regular gentle washes keep it performing, and a periodic decontamination wash removes buildup. Our ceramic coating is a 5-year product.

How to wash a coated vehicle
- Rinse off loose dirt first with plenty of water.
- Wash from top to bottom with a pH-neutral soap and a clean wash mitt, using two buckets if you can.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean microfibre towel so water spots do not form.
Common mistakes
- Washing too soon after the application.
- Using household dish soap or harsh cleaners.
- Letting bird droppings or sap sit on the paint.
- Rubbing dry dust with a towel, which can scratch.
A simple maintenance schedule
Wash every couple of weeks as the weather allows. Do a decontamination wash once or twice a year. Have the coating checked by a professional if water stops beading across a whole panel.
